A LIV golf star whose wife Tiger Woods thrashed after his high-speed car crash in February faces a major battle to stay off the tour next year.

Pat Perez has had a brutal year in the LIV golf scene, with the Arizona-born star narrowly avoiding relegation from the league.

Perez finished the 2024 LIV Golf season in 48th place – just one spot and 1.56 points above the automatic drop zone.

Had the clumsy Kalle Samooja not shot a final-round 71 at the final LIV golf event of the year, things likely would have turned out very differently for the American.

Instead, assuming a team picks him up during the free agency period, Perez still has his LIV Golf contract through 2025.

But with his back already against the wall, defending could prove even more difficult next year if Perez’s form continues on a similar trajectory.

However, Perez is no stranger to drama, especially considering he has been in a war of words with none other than Woods in the past.

Woods, who was a fierce critic of the LIV Golf project when it was launched in 2021, has previously claimed that those players who left the PGA Tour for Saudi-backed riches were just because of the money are there.

Perez hit back, saying on an episode of the Son of a Butch podcast, “That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard of in my life.”

He added: “Next year maybe, they finally got the perks. But last time I checked, he signed a $40 million contract straight out of college and flew on the Nike jet. He found an incentive. He could have closed it then put it down straight away.”

But Pat isn’t the only member of the Perez clan who has visited Woods, the LIV golf star’s wife, Ashley, has also tried.

It came after Woods was involved in a car accident in 2021 that many believed ended his career. Ms. Perez wrote in an Instagram post: “Literally why driving under the influence is ILLEGAL. I have no pity for him. Thank God.” He didn’t kill anyone.

At the time, it was not determined that Woods was driving under the influence and the post was quickly deleted by Ms. Perez.
