The Donegal ETB Golf Society’s second outing of the 2024/25 season took them to the picturesque surroundings of Greencastle Golf Club.
As the members traveled towards the coastal town, all thoughts were on the expected arrival of Storm Ashley and whether they would be able to avoid the course off the Atlantic bared his teeth. As it turned out, their fears were unfounded as the sun shone all day with little to no breeze.
Paddy McDaid won the honor with a great score of 44 points. Danny Conaghan took 2nd place with an impressive 39 points.
Alex Harkin and Aidan Guthrie rounded out the top four with 38 points each, with Alex one ahead of Alex BOT
It was a special weekend for the McDaid family: Paddy secured first place, his son Adam, who accompanied Paddy that day, celebrated his 18th birthday and was also called up to the Finn Harps squad for the final league game of the season. An unforgettable weekend for the McDaid clan.
After two events in the Golfer of the Year table, Paddy McDaid has opened a 12-point lead. He leads by 46 points after his outstanding win at Greencastle and third place at Letterkenny last month.
Tommy Greally is in 2nd place with 34 points, while last year’s Golfer of the Year winner Aidan Guthrie is in 3rd place with 32 points. Elaine Russell, winner of our first outing in Letterkenny, completes the top four with 30 points.
In the Mary Ann Kane Memorial Magnificent 7 Signature competition, Eamonn McDonnell leads with 6 points, closely followed by Captain Myles Sweeney and Aidan Guthrie with 5 points each. Elaine Russell. Leo Gallagher, Paddy McDaid and Tommy Greally all sit on 4 points.
Special thanks to Danny McCartney and everyone at Greencastle Golf Club and Restaurant for their care and hospitality on the day.
The next outing is on Saturday November 9th at Dunfanaghy Golf Club.
