U19 World Boxing Championships FAQ: English boxers will light up the world stage

10 English performance youth boxers are on site before the first bell of the inaugural U19 World Boxing Championships in Colorado, USA.

The team shares over 40 national championships and 16 European medals and now the possibility of a coveted World Championship and the chance to call themselves the “Best in the World” awaits them.

This FAQ article contains all the essential information you need to know in the run-up to a historic World Cup.

When do the 2024 U19 World Championships start?

The draw will take place on Friday 25thTh October at 9:30pm (UK), with the first bell set at 10:00pm (UK) on Saturday 26thTh October. The first five days will feature two-ring action in one session, while the final two days will feature a single-ring session from 7pm (UK).

Where will the 2024 U19 World Championships take place?

The action takes place at the Pueblo Convention Center in Pueblo, Colorado in the western United States. Colorado is world famous for the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains.

Colorado lies within the Mountain Time (MT) zone, which is -7 hours behind the UK. When the clocks go back one hour on Sunday the 27thTh October at 2 a.m. the time difference is -6 hours.

Who will compete at the U19 World Cup 2024?

More than 180 boxers from 30 national associations on five continents will take part, marking the first-ever global championships of this world boxing championship.

Both men and women will compete in the 10 weight classes listed below:

National federations that will take part include host USA Boxing, which has the largest contingent of boxers alongside India and Italy with 15 men and women.

Other participating nations include: Algeria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Finland, Germany, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Mongolia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Tahiti, Thailand, Ukraine and Wales.

Who will compete for England’s performance at the championships?

After a strict selection camp on the 30thTh and 31st In August 2024, 10 boxers were selected for the inaugural championships at Tamworth Boxing Club. The squad is as follows:

Joining the boxers in the Centennial State are senior national trainer Amanda Coulson, national trainer Mick Maguire and trainers Phil Knight and Dave Johnstone. Tyrone Harold is the team’s team manager.

Yes, the 2024 U19 World Championships can be streamed on the World Boxing YouTube channel, which you can find here. Remember that a session that starts at 3pm (Mountain Time) will start at 10pm (UK). When the clocks go back one hour on Sunday the 27thTh In October at 2am the time difference is -6 hours, meaning a 3pm (MT) session will start at 9pm (UK).
